You may have become familiar with the PLS online program and all it offers, or you may still be discovering the many amazing activities and learning experiences that are available.
Today I am sharing some tips on how you can quickly and easily include PLS concepts and learning in your everyday play.
There are two parts of the program that I have been sharing with Educators recently and they have been finding them very useful.
The Activity Guide can help you to locate learning experiences, activities, resources and ideas within the Program to support you in achieving your desired goals with children. Educator feedback has suggested this is super handy when you are looking for a transition activity or something to change the children focus, or if you are just wanting something fun and easy to teach the children.
2. The 0-3 section of the PLS program.
Although this does state that it is for 0–3-year ages, this section of the program has proven to be very helpful to all ages and stages of development. Educators have said the 0-3 section has been very useful for getting to know the PLS program and concepts by utilising the adapted activities and ideas.
My favourite PLS activity to teach children
A simple but very effective way to teach children the basics of deep breathing: Pretend you have a balloon, take a deep breath in (educator demonstrates breathing in through nose) and a big breath out through your mouth to blow up the balloon. I like to adapt this activity when we are out in nature and use a dandelion teaching children to take a breath in through the nose and blow out with their mouths to blow the pappus of the dandelion off into the sky.
We would love to hear of other adaptions and variations Educators have applied when using the PLS program.
Thanks for sharing these amazing tips Hails. There are so many ways that educators and children can engage with the PLS platform and it's easy to get started, and it's so good to remember that ANY place to start is a GREAT place to start!
